Mikey Doble inks new deal with Power Maxed Racing for 2026 BTCC season

Mikey Doble has his sights set on Independents’ title glory in the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship this year after re-signing with Power Maxed Racing for a fourth successive season.

The 27-year-old - who is the team’s longest-serving driver - will contest the UK’s premier motorsport series in a brand-new Audi S3 Saloon under the LKQ Euro Car Parts with Power Maxed Racing banner.

Set to reap the benefits of competing in not only a new car, but with new team-mates in the shape of Aiden Moffat and Dexter Patterson, Doble heads into the 2026 campaign brimming with confidence and with unfinished business to settle.

Coming off the back of stellar 2024 campaign which saw him clinch the Jack Sears Trophy title, Doble was one of the series’ leading lights last year and at Snetterton, he claimed a richly-deserved maiden win.

Despite having to contend to with a change of car following the fire that devastated the team during the second half of the season, the Surrey racer remained in contention for the Independent Drivers’ crown right the way throughout the year - only to ultimately lose out by four points.

Keen to go one better this term, Doble is relishing the prospect of contending for title honours once again, all while steering the Audi S3 programme towards the sharp end of the grid.

           Mikey Doble:

“I’m really happy to be back with Power Maxed Racing this year. This will be my fourth season with the team and I’m as motivated as ever to play a big role in driving them forward into what is a new era.

“The work that has been taking place back at base has been nothing short of incredible. The Audi name has a rich pedigree in the BTCC and to have the opportunity to add to that is exciting; from what I’ve seen so far the S3 really looks the business.

“Having Aiden and Dexter join me is only going to be a benefit too. We can cover ground a lot quicker in terms of getting the cars dialled in and of course we’re all going to push each other to the maximum.

“To be affiliated with a brand such as LKQ Euro Car Parts is brilliant too. They’re the latest in a long line of new partners that I’m proud to represent this season and I’m looking forward to announcing more in the coming weeks.

“In terms of goals for the season; I want to be contending for wins, podiums and the Independent Drivers’ Championship. We came oh-so close to clinching that last year so I’ll be going all-out this time round. It’s going to be a learning year but I’m confident we can be in the mix for big results.”

Donington Park provides the setting for the opening rounds of the 2026 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship season on April 18-19.

Mikey Doble and Power Maxed Racing show fighting spirit at Knockhill

Mikey Doble was left beaming with pride at Knockhill this past weekend (August 16-17) as Motor Parts Direct with Power Maxed Racing completed a remarkable turnaround in the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship.

One week prior to the series’ annual trip to Scotland it had looked as though neither Doble or the team would be in attendance after a devastating fire destroyed the Power Maxed Racing facility, including both of its Vauxhall Astras.

Not to be defeated, the Worcestershire squad rallied in sensational fashion and with the help of the wider motorsport community they headed north of the border with two Cupra cars - where Doble repaid everyone’s hard work by tallying a trio of race finishes.

The 26-year-old kicked off the weekend spending much of Friday getting comfortable in his new car at the track before he and team-mate Nick Halstead were then allowed to complete a handful of shakedown laps later that afternoon.

Come Saturday morning, Doble joined the rest of the BTCC field for two pivotal practice sessions where the Jack Sears Trophy holder began fine-tuning his front-wheel-drive machine further. In qualifying, the Surrey-based racer managed to secure a starting spot in the midfield for race one.

Greeted with scorching temperatures and a bumper trackside crowd on Sunday, Doble had to dig deep on race day as he valiantly got to grips with the limitations of the Cupra - finishing just outside the points in races one and two.

Throwing even more changes at the car for the weekend’s third and final contest, the Snetterton race winner showcased his overtaking prowess as he battled his way forward - and he was ultimately rewarded with a points finish.

Leaving Knockhill, Doble remains firmly in the hunt for the coveted BTCC Independent Drivers’ Championship with just nine races now left to run.

           Mikey Doble:

“I think it’s fair to say it’s not just been a rollercoaster weekend, but a rollercoaster week. Just over seven days ago it was unclear whether we’d race again this season so to have now completed all three races at Knockhill is quite an achievement.

“I’ve got to say a massive thank you to every single member of the Power Maxed Racing team because what has been achieved over these last few days is nothing short of incredible. They moved heaven and earth to be here and put in some long hours to ensure we were competitive.

“Obviously being in Scotland was a win in itself but I would be lying if I didn’t say I hoped to come away with a little more from the weekend. That being said there were no real expectations as this was the first-ever time driving the Cupra.

“Every session was a step into the unknown but we learnt a huge amount about the car. We’ve got a long way to go but we’ve got an idea of what direction we want to take the Cupra heading into the next round - so hopefully we will see more progress at Donington Park.”

Next up for the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship is a return to Donington Park - albeit this time on the Grand Prix layout - for Rounds 22, 23 & 24 of the 2025 season on August 30-31.

Mikey Doble digs deep to claim Independent victory at Croft

Mikey Doble showed his fighting spirit to claim his fifth Independent victory of 2025 this past weekend (2-3 August) as the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship returned to action at Croft Circuit.

Kicking off the second half of the season at the North Yorkshire venue, the Motor Parts Direct with Power Maxed Racing driver dug deep across three frenetic races, with the ultimate reward being a class victory in race three and the lead of the Independent standings.

As he has done on many occasions this year, the Vauxhall Astra driver emerged as one of the stars of the show during Saturday’s qualifying session as Doble secured a fourth appearance in the Quick Six Shootout.

Having comfortably progressed into the battle for pole position, the 26-year-old - who clinched a maiden race win at Snetterton - set a best time of 1:20.936 around the 2.100-mile circuit to snare third on the grid for race one.

In the curtain-raising contest, the talented Surrey-based driver endured a frustrating outing as he was unable to capitalise on converting his second row start into silverware.

Greasy conditions provided a challenge for everyone and with the car not in the optimum window, Doble was shuffled down the order on lap one before he inadvertently dropped a wheel onto the grass through the chicane, which subsequently sent him spinning into the tyre wall.

Thankfully the reigning Jack Sears Trophy champion was able to get his front-wheel-drive machine moving again after the impact and he ultimately went on to fight his way back up to 15th place overall.

Joining a majority of the field in opting to run the more preferable soft Goodyear tyre in race two, Doble then found himself bottled up in a train of cars from start-to-finish, unable to make any meaningful progress.

Despite his best efforts, he was able to make up a single position and crossed the line in 14th place.

If races one and two were action-packed then the reverse grid finale will go down as one of the all-time classic touring car contests, all of which resulted in Doble charging to a hard-fought Independent win.

Lining up towards the rear of the field, Doble initially made early progress however he soon had to make an unscheduled trip into the pit lane to have an issue resolved. Luckily this happened under the safety which meant that he remained on the lead lap.

On the restart, Doble showcased his overtaking prowess by carving his way up the order and clinched tenth place on the run to the line; critically snatching the top spot in the Independent category away from Dexter Patterson on the final lap.

That victory now means that Doble holds an eight-point advantage at the top of the Independent Drivers’ Championship.

           Mikey Doble:

“It’s been a rollercoaster race day so to be ending it on the podium with an Independent win is great. It’s slightly bittersweet however because I know we had the potential to achieve so much more this weekend.

“Saturday we chipped away and continuously improved the car, the result being third on the grid. Race one we dropped a few spots at the start but we were coming back at them - I just didn’t have the car quite in the window in those early laps when conditions were greasy.

“We managed to recover after spinning into the wall and score a point, and then basically finished where we started in race two. That last race was chaotic but despite a trip into the pit lane we managed to fight our way back to score an Independent win.

“I’ve got to say a huge thank you to the whole Motor Parts Direct with Power Maxed Racing team because they’ve worked hard all weekend. Hopefully we can come back fighting at Knockhill in a couple of weeks."

The Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship season continues in less than two weeks’ time at Knockhill on the 16-17 August.

Mikey Doble vows to bounce back after BTCC summer break

Mikey Doble has vowed to come out fighting when the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship returns from its annual summer after enduring a frustrating weekend at Oulton Park.

Bringing the curtain down on the first half of the season at the Cheshire track, the Motor Parts Direct with Power Maxed Racing driver battled valiantly across three bruising encounters - only to be rewarded with a handful of points.

Struggling to find a balance in the set-up of his Vauxhall Astra throughout practice on Saturday, qualifying later that afternoon proved to be frustrating for the 26-year-old, with 11th being the best he could muster.

Choosing to get the less favourable hard tyre out the way in race one, the Snetterton race winner was in the thick of the action throughout but with diminishing type performance as opposed to who he was racing, the front-wheel-drive racer dropped to 18th by the chequered flag.

Bolting the soft tyre on for race two, Doble was a man on a mission as he went from the rear of the field up to the fringes of the top ten. And it could well have been even higher had it not been for the safety car twice neutralising proceedings.

Sadly Doble’s weekend came to a premature end in a damp race three as whilst on course to claim an Independents’ win, he was unceremoniously nerfed into the tyre wall at Hislops by Tom Chilton.

Going into the six-week BTCC break, Doble sits third in the Independent Drivers’ Championship- firmly within striking distance of the top two.

           Mikey Doble:

“Sadly just like Thruxton it’s been another weekend where we’ve fought tooth and nail for very little. For some reason we just didn’t have the pace so it’s frustrating.

“Going into the weekend I felt like we had a good chance of mixing it towards the front but we never really got the car in that sweet spot we’ve had at previous rounds - and it’s hard to put a finger on why.

“We obviously took the pain of the hard tyre in race one and then battled back through in race two. In the finale we were on course for what looked to be a comfortable Indie win then suddenly I get a big hit from behind and I’m in the barrier and out of the race.

“It’s been a weekend to forget but importantly we’ve now got the summer break to reflect and hit the reset button. We’ll get our heads down and come Croft I wanna be right back in that gaggle of cars battling for the top six.”

The Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship season continues at Croft on August 2-3.

Mikey Doble sees pace go unrewarded at Thruxton

Mikey Doble found himself out of luck this past weekend (7-8 June) as he saw his pace go unrewarded during the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship’s annual visit to the fastest circuit in the country, Thruxton.

Hot on the heels of claiming a popular maiden win at Snetterton, the Motor Parts Direct with Power Maxed Racing driver battled mechanical gremlins throughout race day - ultimately being rewarded with just two points come the end of it.

Renowned for its high-speed sweeping corners, the 2.356-mile layout is one of the most demanding tracks on the BTCC schedule and the challenge it presents undoubtedly intensified on Saturday afternoon as heavy rain battered the venue during qualifying.

Despite the adverse conditions, Doble emerged as one of the stars of the show as he splashed his Vauxhall Astra into the Quick Six Shootout for a third consecutive weekend before snaring fourth on the grid for race one.

The 26-year-old wasted no time in moving up to third as the lights went out in a frenetic opener as a bold dive bomb down the inside of Dan Cammish at the Complex put him on the rear bumper of the top two.

Sadly for Doble he would not hang on as after dropping back behind Cammish, last year’s Jack Sears Trophy title winner was forced to pull off the circuit with a mechanical issue, which later would be diagnosed as an engine failure.

Following a monumental turnaround by the team to fit a new engine, Doble made the start of race two and wasted no time in fighting his way from the back of the grid to inside the top ten. Once again though there would be despair as he would have to pit due to further technical problems.

Returning to the rear of the field for race three, Doble produced yet another overtaking masterclass to fight his way to as high as eighth at one stage before he was hit with a track limits penalty late on, dropping him to 14th at the chequered flag.

           Mikey Doble:

“It’s been one of those weekends where things just haven’t gone our way. We had great pace in qualifying and to be able to make it into the Quick Six once again was a great achievement.

“Race one we were in a good place position-wise but the engine temperatures shot up pretty rapidly and I had to park it. The job the guys and girls did at Power Maxed Racing to fit a new engine in-between races was phenomenal but sadly another issue scuppered our progress.

“Then in race three it felt like we were going to end things on a high having come from the back but we then got pinged for track limits. It’s frustrating but you have these sort of weekends in the BTCC sometimes.

“The real positive for me is that we have some serious pace in this car to trouble the established front-runners so I’m looking forward to going to Oulton Park, scene of my first-ever podium last year, and seeing what we can achieve.”

The Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship reaches the halfway point in the season next as Oulton Park hosts Rounds 13, 14 & 15 on June 21-22.

Mikey Doble charges to maiden BTCC victory at Snetterton

Mikey Doble enjoyed his ‘day of days’ at Snetterton this past weekend (May 24-25) as he produced a masterful drive in race three to claim his first-ever victory in the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship.

After previously coming close on a number of occasions, the Motor Parts Direct with Power Maxed Racing driver was not to be denied in the reverse grid encounter as he drove a flawless race to realise a childhood dream and become a BTCC race winner.

In becoming the latest driver to triumph in the UK’s premier motorsport series, the 26-year-old’s victory was the first for an Independent team in 1001 days and the first for Power Maxed Racing in 156 races.

Coming off the back of a strong start to his season, Doble arrived at the Norfolk venue brimming with optimism and his aspirations were raised further when he delivered a stunning set of laps in qualifying to secure fourth on the grid for race one.

Deciding to adopt a different strategy to those around him and run the less favourable hard tyre in race one, the Vauxhall Astra racer produced a battling drive to take the chequered flag in ninth place.

With the pain of that tyre now out the way, the front-wheel-drive ace got his elbows out and managed to fight his way up to sixth place in race two. That would then become pole position for the day’s third and final contest following the reverse grid draw.

Making a perfect start as the lights went out, last year’s Jack Sears Trophy champion was peerless as he broke clear of the chasing pack to build up an early lead - however as is the way in the BTCC, he wouldn’t have things all his own way.

Heading into the closing stages, Doble was hunted down by four-time champion Ash Sutton and with the Ford Focus ST driver looming in his mirrors, the Surrey-based racer needed to be wheel-perfect all the way to the finish.

Doble did just that and he crossed the line to raptures of applause as he became the latest first-time winner. In addition, he also moved to the summit of the Independent Drivers’ Championship and now sits tenth in the overall Drivers’ Championship.

           Mikey Doble

: “I’m lost for words really. I’ve never been one to show too much emotion but I think everyone that’s been on this journey with me has demonstrated just how much this means. To now be able to call myself a BTCC race winner is absolutely incredible.

“I come from a racing family and simply being in this championship is a feat in itself. We don’t take anything for granted so this win means the world to us; coming into this season this was always the aim and I’m so proud to have got it done.

“Qualifying in P4 I sort of knew that I probably wouldn’t have the outright pace to run with the three in front of me so I thought let’s be a bit different and run the hard tyre in race one - all in the hope of playing the long game.

“Hanging onto P9 was a great result in race one and then to move up to P6 on the soft tyre set us up perfectly for race three, especially when we got drawn onto pole position. I just got my head down and tried to build a gap as those on hard tyres provided that buffer to the other soft runners.

“I’ll admit that those last few laps were a bit nerve-wracking but that’s to be expected when arguably the best driver of this generation is chasing you down. Thankfully I just focused on the job in hand, hit my marks and brought it home.

“It’s going to take a little while to sink in but I’ve got say a massive thank you to everyone at Power Maxed Racing as they truly deserve this win. I’ve also got to thank my family, friends and sponsors for their continued support on this journey.”

Independent win the highlight of bruising Brands Hatch weekend for Mikey Doble

Mikey Doble produced a battling display to clinch his third Independent win of the season on what was an otherwise bruising weekend in the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship at Brands Hatch.

Arriving at his home circuit looking to build on the strong start to the campaign that he made at Donington Park, the Motor Parts Direct with Power Maxed Racing driver found himself in the thick of the action across three frenetic races at the sun-kissed Kent venue.

Finding a sweet spot in the set-up of his Vauxhall Astra during Saturday’s two practice sessions, the 26-year-old delivered a series of superlative laps in qualifying later that afternoon to make it all the way into the Quick Six Shootout; ultimately ending the session in sixth place.

Lining up on the third row of the grid for the first of three contests on Sunday, Doble enjoyed a relatively trouble-free opener as he maximised the performance of the soft tyre to finish where he started, while also claiming overall honours in the Independents’ Class.

Frustratingly that would be as good as it would get for the Surrey-based racer as he found himself on the receiving end of multiple bouts of contact in race two which culminated in him suffering a right rear puncture and dropping a lap down after a visit to the pit lane.

Tasked with starting race three from the back of the grid on the less preferable hard tyre, Doble showed his fighting spirit to progress up the order but sadly a points-paying finish was to be just out of his reach.

Leaving Brands Hatch, Doble and Motor Parts Direct with Power Maxed Racing sit second in the Independent Drivers’ and Independent Teams’ Championship standings respectively.

           Mikey Doble:

“It’s been a really hard-fought weekend! Off the back of the start we made at Donington Park I came into the event feeling that we could have another strong showing and after qualifying inside the Quick Six we were all set for a strong race day.

“Race one was all about maximising our position and the soft tyre. I had a good battle with Dan [Cammish] and then when that settled down it was about preserving the tyre and bringing it home for another Independent race win.

“I can comfortably say that race two was one of the toughest races of my BTCC career so far. From the minute the lights went out I was taking hits from everywhere and it ultimately caused my right rear tyre to explode, which in-turn sent me spinning across the pack.

“To then start on the hard tyre and at the back was always going to be difficult but we got stuck in and had a few good battles. We’ve got a good package underneath us and if we can stay out of trouble at Snetterton I think we can be on for another strong weekend there.”

The Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship heads to Snetterton for Rounds 7, 8 and 9 of the 2025 season on May 24-25.

Mikey Doble kicks off new season with Donington Park double

Mikey Doble enjoyed a spectacular start to his 2025 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship season this past weekend (26-27 April) as he claimed two Independent race wins at Donington Park.

Returning to the UK’s premier motorsport series with Motor Car Parts Direct with Power Maxed Racing for a third consecutive campaign, last year’s Jack Sears Trophy winner demonstrated why he continues to be one to watch as he delivered a trio of battling drives.

Showing plenty of pace across Saturday’s free practice sessions, the 26-year-old comfortably progressed into Q2 in qualifying before he went on to secure tenth on the grid for race one.

Greeted with glorious sunshine and a huge trackside crowd on race day, Doble wasted no time in fighting his way up the order as he pulled off a number of eye-catching moves to capture fifth overall and his first Independents’ triumph.

Lining up on the third row of the grid for race two, Doble had the podium in his sights however a mechanical issue prior to the green flag lap meant that he was handed a drive-through penalty virtue of his team working on the car beyond the permitted time on the grid.

Thankfully the Vauxhall Astra did manage to fire into life and after serving his penalty at the end of the opening lap, Doble demonstrated his race craft by charging his way up to 16th place by the chequered flag.

Doble arguably saved his best until last at the Leicestershire venue in race three as he scythed his way through the field to finish seventh overall and crucially, snatch a second Independents’ win of the day from Chris Smiley at the final chicane.

Following the conclusion of Donington Park, Doble sits ninth in the BTCC Drivers’ Championship and second in the Independent Drivers’ Championship.

           Mikey Doble:

“I’ve absolutely loved this weekend! To come away with two Independent wins is a fantastic start to the season and the encouraging thing is that as a team, our best is still to come.

“We didn't quite maximise the set-up of the car in qualifying so to have made it up to fifth in race one was great; we were where I thought we should have been for the start of race two. That unfortunately was a gut wrencher as the car wouldn’t start and we were hit with a drive-through penalty once we did manage to get it going.

“To make it back to 16th was the best we could do and then in race three I felt like that was one of the drives of my touring car career so far. On the medium tyre we clawed our way to seventh and in the process wrestled the Independents win away from Smiley on the final lap.

“Given where the team was just a few months ago everyone can be proud of what we’ve achieved this weekend and as I said, I really feel like we’re yet to scratch the surface on what we can do in the BTCC this season - roll on Brands Hatch!”

Brands Hatch provides the next stop on the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship schedule with Rounds 4, 5 & 6 taking place on May 10-11.

Mikey Doble re-signs with Power Maxed Racing for 2025 season

Mikey Doble is set to embark on his third successive season in the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship after re-signing with Power Maxed Racing.

Coming off the back of a superlative 2024 campaign which saw him lift the coveted Jack Sears Trophy title, the 26-year-old is poised to become the Worcestershire team’s longest-serving driver in the UK’s premier motorsport series this year.

It was recently announced that a new title sponsorship deal has been struck with Motor Parts Direct which will see the team run under the banner of Motor Parts Direct with Power Maxed Racing in 2025.

Making his debut with the Vauxhall squad in 2023, Doble established himself as one of the series’ leading lights last season as he claimed a total of 15 class wins on his way to scooping the Jack Sears Trophy crown.

In addition, the Surrey-based racer also scored a maiden overall podium at Oulton Park, picked up seven Independent wins on his way to claiming the runners-up laurels in that category and helped Power Maxed Racing clinch the Independent Teams’ title for the very first time.

Now poised to spearhead the teams’ title defence, Doble is focused on making his mark even further in the BTCC throughout 2025.

           Mikey Doble:

“I’m thrilled to be returning to the BTCC for a third straight year and aiming to kick on from what has already been an amazing couple of years in the championship. I’m delighted to be doing it with Power Maxed Racing and leading the charge there, showing everyone, our best is yet to come.

“So far I’ve accomplished everything that I set out to achieve in my first couple of years in the BTCC including scoring a pole position in qualifying, an overall podium finish and of course winning the Jack Sears Trophy last season.

“This year we’re looking to take things up to the next level by challenging for podiums on a more regular basis, taking that Independent Drivers’s title and ultimately winning a race - it won’t be a success in my eyes if we don’t do the latter.

“Everyone at the team has been working really hard over these past few months and I cannot wait to get back out in the Vauxhall Astra, starting at Croft for the first official test in just a few weeks’ time.”

Donington Park provides the setting for the opening rounds of the 2025 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship season on April 26-27.

Mikey Doble crowned 2024 Jack Sears Trophy Champion at BTCC finale

Mikey Doble has been crowned the 2024 Jack Sears Trophy champion after the curtain fell on another stellar Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship season this past weekend (October 5-6) at Brands Hatch.

Taking on the world-famous Grand Prix layout safe in the knowledge that he would lift the coveted prize after securing an unassailable lead at Silverstone, the Evans Halshaw Power Maxed Racing driver signed off the year in the same manner he started it, with an ultra-competitive performance.

Doble’s path to championship glory has been nothing short of impressive with the 25-year-old quickly establishing himself as the one to beat in the Jack Sears Trophy, subsequently never being headed in the standings.

The Vauxhall Astra racer clinched a total of 15 wins in the prestigious category over the course of the season which contributed towards him claiming overall honours in six of the ten race meetings.

In addition, Doble also scored seven Independent wins to help Power Maxed Racing capture the Teams’ Championship for the first time and he also tallied a popular first outright podium back at Oulton Park - where he came within a few corners of a sensational maiden victory.

Kicking off the final round of his sophomore season, the Surrey-based racer underlined his credentials as one of the series’ breakout stars by hustling his front-wheel-drive machine into seventh place during Saturday’s qualifying session.

That would set Doble up for a tantalising opening encounter as he found himself in the right place at the right time on lap one by benefitting from a number of cars clashing, which in-turn allowed him to move up to third.

Running competitively at the front of the field, Doble could ultimately do nothing to stop title contender Tom Ingram from powering past but once in fourth, it was a relatively straightforward drive to the chequered flag.

Unfortunately for Doble, race two was a case of what might have been as he was forced to pit early on to rectify a spark plug issue which dropped him off the lead lap and meant that he would score no points.

Tasked with starting from the back of the grid for a wet race three, Doble brought the curtain down on his campaign with a storming drive up to 11th and with it, clinched his second Independents’ win of the day.

Mikey Doble, Evans Halshaw Power Maxed Racing:

“It’s hard to believe that the season is now over but to be standing here with this amazing piece of silverware and knowing that I am officially the Jack Sears Trophy champion is really special.

“At the start of the year this was the target and we’ve not only just achieved it but have done so in style. Having that moment on the Champions’ Podium is something I will never forget and I’m just so happy that I’ve done what I set out to do.

“Huge credit and thanks has to go to every single member of the Evans Halshaw Power Maxed Racing team because they’ve been incredible all year. Without them - as well as my partners, family and friends - none of this would have been possible.

“I’m certainly going to savour this success for a little while and enjoy the fruits of our labour. That being said, it won’t be long until my attention turns to next year and we’ll get to work on seeing if we can come back to contend for more trophies in 2025.”

Mikey Doble has provisionally clinched the 2024 Jack Sears Trophy title after securing an unassailable lead in the standings at the penultimate round of the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship this past weekend (September 21-22) at Silverstone.

The Evans Halshaw Power Maxed Racing driver arrived at the Home of British Motor Racing holding a commanding advantage in the coveted category and despite enduring a rollercoaster race day, he managed to put himself out of reach of his rivals ahead of the season finale.

Doble’s Silverstone success - which included two points finishes - also helped the team provisionally secure the Independent Teams’ Championship for the first-ever time, while the 25-year-old cemented second place in the Independent Drivers’ Championship.

Returning to the scene of his maiden BTCC pole position last year, the Surrey-based racer showed plenty of speed across Saturday’s two practice sessions and that front-running pace was carried forward into qualifying.

Mastering the wet conditions in his Vauxhall Astra, Doble posted the third fastest time however post-session technical checks would lead to him being excluded from the classification due to a ride height failure.

Things unfortunately got worse before they got better for the front-wheel-drive ace as, while on the way to the grid for race one, he suffered a turbo issue which forced him back into the pit lane and ultimately out of the contest.

With the issue rectified for race two, Doble set about making up for lost ground and produced a stellar performance in damp conditions to fight his way up the order to take the chequered flag in 14th.

Track conditions further deteriorated for race three and after nine laps the red flag was waved to bring a halt to proceedings. After a lengthy delay and with the rain having subsided, racing soon resumed however Doble would see out the remainder of the bout without a working wiper blade.

Utilising all of his talents behind the wheel, the sophomore race managed to stay out of trouble and cross the line in 11th, which in-turn proved to be enough to secure him the Jack Sears Trophy crown.

Mikey Doble, Evans Halshaw Power Maxed Racing:

“I’m a little lost for words if I’m honest. That was without doubt one of the most challenging weekends I’ve had in the BTCC so to come away having done enough to wrap up the Jack Sears Trophy is brilliant.

“Coming into the weekend I knew we’d have a strong package and we demonstrated that in qualifying, only to have it sadly taken away from us. Despite starting from the back I was feeling upbeat as I knew we had a car that could take us forward on race day.

“Frustratingly the turbo let go on the way to the grid in race one and that meant we had to fight our way from the back in races two and three. We did the best job possible but it certainly felt like everything was going against me at times.

“To be standing here now knowing I can’t be beaten in the Jack Sears Trophy is special. This has been what I set out to achieve since the start of the year so to wrap it up with a round to spare means we can go to Brands Hatch without any real pressure on us.

“I’ve also got to say a huge congratulations to my team-mate Aron for winning the Independent Drivers’ Championship and to the whole PMR team. Securing the Independent Teams’ crown is a great reward for untold hours of hard work for everyone that’s involved.”

The Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship concludes its 2024 campaign in less than two weeks’ time as Rounds 28, 29 & 30 play out around the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit on October 5-6.

Mikey Doble charges to pivotal Jack Sears Trophy victory at Donington Park

Mikey Doble moved another step closer to Jack Sears Trophy title glory at Donington Park this past weekend (24-25 August) as he extended his lead at the top of the standings after triumphing for the sixth time this season in the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship.

The Evans Halshaw Power Maxed Racing driver was once again the man to beat in the coveted category as he tallied a hat-trick of points finishes to open up a 93-point advantage, with just six races now left to run.

Eager to bounce back from what had been a frustrating outing at Knockhill a few weeks’ ago, the 25-year-old enjoyed a superb Saturday showing by backing up his pace-setting speed in practice with a season-best qualifying performance.

Lighting up the timesheets to progress into the ‘Quick Six’ shootout for the first time this year, Doble produced a near-perfect lap around the legendary Grand Prix circuit to secure third on the grid for race one.

The opening encounter on Sunday proved to be a race of attrition for the Vauxhall Astra driver as he was forced to dig deep and salvage a result after unintentional heavy contact with Tom Ingram at the final corner sent him tumbling down the order on lap one.

Despite sustaining damage in the incident, the Surrey-based racer was able to continue and he battled all the way to the chequered flag, ultimately crossing the line in 15th for a solitary championship point.

Race two would see Doble get his elbows out and showcase his overtaking prowess as he pulled off a number of eye-catching moves on his way to ninth place, which then put him third on the grid for the finale following the reverse grid draw.

Back where he started the day in the UK’s premier motorsport series, the front-wheel-drive ace launched off the second row and into an almighty scrap for the podium places which saw him maintain his position until mid-distance.

Following two safety car periods and with a number of championship contenders on a charge around him, Doble was shuffled back a few places however he valiantly showed his fighting spirit to fend off two BMWs and finish sixth.

Mikey Doble, Evans Halshaw Power Maxed Racing:

“In a way it has been somewhat of a bittersweet weekend because we certainly had the pace for an overall podium however I can’t be too disappointed as we’ve done what we wanted to do in the Jack Sears Trophy.

“From the moment we rolled the car out in practice I had a good feeling behind the wheel so it was great to show what we could do in qualifying by making it into the ‘Quick Six’ for the first time this year.

“Race one didn’t go to plan at all but we recovered to bring it home and that allowed us to bounce back as the day progressed. In race two the car felt great and I was able to pull a few good moves to break into the top ten, which then put us on row two for the reverse grid race.

“I had some good battles in that final race and we were hanging on to third however those guys in the championship fight had a little bit more pace on us and once Tom [Ingram] opened the door both Josh [Cook] and Jake [Hill] took advantage.

“To hang onto sixth was brilliant in the end and we’ve extended the lead in the Jack Sears Trophy, which is massive for me. I can go to Silverstone in a comfortable position knowing that we can provisionally wrap things up there."

The Home of British Motor Racing, Silverstone, stages the penultimate rounds of the 2024 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship on the 21-22 September.

Mikey Doble consolidates Jack Sears Trophy lead despite Knockhill frustration

Mikey Doble continues to lead the way in the Jack Sears Trophy standings despite suffering what can only be described as a luckless Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship outing at Knockhill this past weekend (10-11 August).

The Evans Halshaw Power Maxed Racing driver enjoyed a superb top ten showing in race one at the Scottish venue however that would be as good as it got for the 25-year-old as mechanical issues scuppered his chances of scoring points in the remaining two contests.

Making the annual trip north of the border in firm contention of both the Independent Drivers’ and Jack Sears Trophy categories, the Vauxhall Astra driver showed encouraging speed across Saturday’s two practice sessions - something that he carried through into qualifying.

In what was a frenetic session around the undulating 1.27-mile circuit, Doble comfortably moved forward into the second segment of qualifying however he was unable to unlock the extra few tenths of a second that were needed to progress into the pole position shootout.

Lining up tenth for the opening encounter, the front-wheel-drive ace found himself in the thick of the action on the soft tyre for much of the 24-lap bout before he took the chequered flag in the position that he had started.

Sadly for Doble that would be the highlight of his Sunday as his car cruelly stalled on the grid, just as the lights were going out for race two. Having avoided being collected by other cars, the Surrey racer managed to get his car going although he would finish a lowly 18th.

Unfortunately for Doble, the issue that caused his car to stall in race two led to a frantic amount of work being undertaken between races and despite the team’s best efforts, he failed to make the start for race three.

Heading back down south, Doble now holds a 69-point lead at the top of the Jack Sears Trophy while he trails team-mate Aron Taylor-Smith by 48 points in the Independent Drivers’ Championship.

Mikey Doble, Evans Halshaw Power Maxed Racing:

“It’s been a weekend of what could have been! We’ve had really good pace since we rolled out on Saturday morning but it’s unfortunately gone unrewarded.

“Qualifying inside the top ten was a great start and we managed to hold that position in race one. When I came up to the line for race two the clutch bearing let go and that's what stalled the car.; frustratingly when we got going the pace on the medium tyre was unbelievable.

“The boys and girls at Power Maxed Racing didn’t have long to get it turned around but they pulled off a mega effort and it looked like we’d be out there - until a seal burst when we went to bleed the clutch. It’s fair to say it’s just not been our weekend.

“On a positive note, we’ve not lost any of the advantage we had in the Jack Sears Trophy and we can go to Donington Park in a few weeks’ time confident that we should have a car that can mix it towards the right end of the field.”

Donington Park’s Grand Prix circuit plays host to the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship on the 24-25 August.

Mikey Doble strengthens Jack Sears Trophy lead at Croft

Mikey Doble claimed his fifth Jack Sears Trophy victory in six meetings this past weekend (27-28 July) as the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship returned to action in front of a bumper crowd at Croft Circuit.

Despite feeling under the weather throughout the event, the Evans Halshaw Power Maxed Racing driver dug deep to claim a hat-trick of points finishes, which in-turn enabled him to extend his advantage at the top of the standings.

Arriving at the North Yorkshire circuit off the back of claiming a maiden podium finish at Oulton Park, the Vauxhall Astra racer worked through his programme during Saturday’s two free practice sessions before then upping the ante for qualifying later that afternoon.

Comfortably progressing into the second segment of the session, Doble was frustratingly one of several drivers to lose a lap time due to track limit offences and that would ultimately culminate in him setting the tenth fastest time overall.

Race one on Sunday saw the 25-year-old opt to run the less competitive hard compound tyre and despite the performance deficit to those around him, the front-wheel-drive ace managed to hold firm to take the chequered flag in 11th.

Switching to the more favourable soft tyre for race two, Doble then found himself in the thick of the action as he battled for position and points against the likes of Tom Chilton, Colin Turkington and Aiden Moffat.

After finishing 11th and then missing out on the reverse grid draw, Doble started outside the top ten for race three and was yet again at the heart of the midfield battle, trading paint with team-mate Aron Taylor-Smith no less.

Despite running out of the same team, the battle for bragging rights and supremacy in the Independent Drivers’ Championship saw both drivers go wheel-to-wheel on a number of occasions, with contact being made on the final tour.

Both drivers were able to emerge relatively unscathed from what was a captivating fight and took the chequered flag, with Doble crossing the line in 15th.

Leaving Croft, Doble now leads the Jack Sears Trophy by 69 points while he also remains hot on the heels of Taylor-Smith in the Independent Drivers’ Championship.

Mikey Doble, Evans Halshaw Power Maxed Racing:

“I’m coming away from Croft with mixed feelings from the weekend. On a positive note I was able to extend my lead in the Jack Sears Trophy and maintain my points-scoring streak.

“All weekend I was fighting an illness so I had to dig deep to get the best out of myself; I’m proud of the performances we put in.

“We had strong pace on Sunday and ticked along nicely by scoring two 11th place finishes. We were then on for a top ten in race three but unfortunately we came to blows with Aron on a few occasions.

“That cost us some points and the Independents’ win which is a little frustrating but as a team we move on and continue to press forward heading to Knockhill in a fortnights’ time.”

Next on the calendar for the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship is a trip north of the border to Knockhill on the 10-11 August.

Mikey Doble produces 'drive of his life' to secure maiden BTCC podium at Oulton Park

Mikey Doble produced what he described as ‘one of his greatest drives to-date’ to score a first-ever podium finish in the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship at Oulton Park.

On what will long be a weekend to remember for the Evans Halshaw Power Maxed Racing driver, Doble showed why he is a star of the future by leading a majority of the reverse grid finale before going on to clinch a sensational second place.

In addition to his heroics at the front of the field, Doble also triumphed in the Independents’ Trophy and tallied a fourth victory of the year in the Jack Sears Trophy, where he further extended his lead at the top of the standings.

Arriving at the fifth meeting of the campaign as one of only three drivers to have scored points in every race - a statistic he would go on to maintain - Doble kicked off his visit to the Cheshire venue by showcasing commendable pace across Saturday’s two practice sessions.

Come qualifying later that afternoon the Vauxhall Astra racer came oh-so close to progressing into the Top 12 but despite his best efforts and just a thousandth of a second, he had to settle for 13th on the grid for race one.

Lining up on the seventh row of the grid and with the option hard tyre bolted onto his front-wheel-drive machine, the 25-year-old set himself up for a strong remainder of the day by progressing to 11th at the chequered flag.

Switching to the more competitive soft tyre for race two, Doble’s race day soon came alive as he carved his way up the order to finish sixth, which netted him pole position for race three virtue of the reverse grid draw.

Joined by team-mate Aron Taylor-Smith on the front row, Doble made a perfect start to the finale and quickly established a small lead over the chasing pack who were all squabbling for the remaining spots on the podium.

Seemingly unfazed by the position he found himself in, Doble was wheel-perfect as the laps ticked by however the pressure soon began to mount as his mirrors started to become filled by the charging BMW of Jake Hill in the final few laps.

Despite withstanding multiple attacks from Hill, the decisive move for the lead came on the final lap as the pair ran side-by-side through the chicane - with the BMW taking the position virtue of being on the inside at the exit of the corner.

Shadowing Hill to the finish line, Doble was met with wild celebrations as he claimed runners-up laurels and led home a first-ever double podium for Power Maxed Racing.

Heading into the BTCC summer break, Doble sits on the fringes of the top ten in the Drivers’ Championship while he has extended his lead in the Jack Sears Trophy and maintained second place in the Independents’ Drivers standings.

Mikey Doble, Evans Halshaw Power Maxed Racing:

“What a way to end the first half of the season! To bring home a maiden BTCC podium and to be a part of the first Power Maxed Racing double podium is something really special.

“Going into the weekend I had a feeling that we could achieve a result like this and we’ve done it. The car felt great on Saturday and we were so unlucky to have missed out on progressing in qualifying by just 0.001s.

“We didn’t let that get us down though and on race day we strategised a game plan that brought us towards the front as the day wore on. Race one was about maintaining things on the hard tyre but then when we jumped on the softs in race two it was game on.

“I managed to nail the start in race three and then I was just focused on hitting my marks and not making any mistakes; it was calming being out front and leading. The better man ultimately won as Jake is so strong in the BMW but I’m still so happy to have finished second.

“It’s just been the perfect weekend as on top of the overall podium I’ve also picked up more wins in the Independents’ and Jack Sears Trophy. I’ve got say a massive thank you to the whole team for their efforts - it’s been a dream weekend and the perfect end to a brilliant first half of the year.”

The Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship season continues at Croft Circuit on July 27-28.

Mikey Doble maintains Jack Sears Trophy lead at Thruxton

Evans Halshaw Power Maxed Racing’s Mikey Doble maintained his 100% points-scoring record and Jack Sears Trophy lead at Thruxton this past weekend (8-9 June) as the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship took centre stage in Hampshire.

On what proved to be a full-throttle visit to the fastest circuit in the country, the Vauxhall Astra driver scored points in all three races to consolidate his position in both the Jack Sears Trophy and Independent Drivers’ standings.

Arriving at the high-speed venue off the back of his best-ever weekend in the UK’s premier motorsport series, the 25-year-old hit the ground running on Saturday as he showed encouraging speed across both free practice sessions.

Come qualifying, the front-wheel-drive ace comfortably progressed out of his group and into the second segment, where he then went on to secure a spot on the sixth row of the grid for Sunday’s opening encounter.

Race one would be a relatively tame affair by usual touring car standards with Doble comfortably holding station to take the chequered flag in 11th.

Things became slightly more fraught in the weekend’s second contest as the differences in hybrid deployment began to play their part. In the thick of the action in the midfield, Doble found himself out of position when dicing with Aiden Moffat which cost him a handful of positions late on.

Keen to bounce back from his earlier travails, the former Ginetta GT5 and BMW Compact Cup champion got his head down and moved forward in the finale, powering his Astra to an 11th place finish.

Leaving Thruxton, Doble holds a 40-point lead at the top of the Jack Sears Trophy, while he trails his team-mate Aron Taylor-Smith by a slender ten-point deficit in the Independent Drivers’ Championship.

Mikey Doble, Evans Halshaw Power Maxed Racing:

“It’s been a strong weekend where I’ve managed to score points in all three races and maintained the lead in the Jack Sears Trophy; of course it would have been nice to go home with a pot but we’ve done all up until now.

“In qualifying I didn’t maximise the lap and I think that ultimately cost us a little bit on race day. The pace in the car was good enough to be a couple of rows higher and if that had been the case we’d have been fighting inside the top eight. We just didn’t get the rub of the green.

“On race day I was happy with how I drove; it’s always so tough around Thruxton as you really can’t make any small mistakes so to come away with three points finishes is something to be pleased out.

“It would have been nice to claim a fourth successive Jack Sears Trophy win but that streak had to end at some point. The important thing is that we’re still leading it overall and that’s where my focus is at.”

The 2024 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship season reaches the halfway point in less than two weeks’ time as the series travels north to Oulton Park on June 22/23.

Mikey Doble savours best-ever BTCC weekend at Snetterton

Mikey Doble enjoyed his strongest weekend to-date in the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship at Snetterton as he claimed a career-best finish of fourth, two Independent wins and outright honours in the Jack Sears Trophy.

On what was an incredible weekend of weather and racing, the Evans Halshaw Power Maxed Racing driver managed to maintain his 100% scoring record and close to within one point of the Independent Drivers’ Championship summit; he also extended lead in the Jack Sears Trophy.

Doble arrived at the Norfolk venue brimming with optimism following strong performances at Donington Park and Brands Hatch, and the Vauxhall Astra driver wasted no time in beginning his pursuit of silverware by showing encouraging pace in free practice.

Featuring inside the top ten across both sessions in damp conditions, the 25-year-old had hoped to challenge for a lofty grid position in qualifying however that was ultimately not to be, leaving him to settle for 16th on the grid for race one.

Race day began with the front-wheel-drive ace making steady progress in the opening contest as he worked together with team-mate Aron Taylor-Smith to climb up the order and take the chequered flag in 13th.

Heavy rain battered the circuit prior to race two, which delayed proceedings, but by the time the grid left the pit lane to head to the grid, the sun was shining and a dry line was starting to appear - leaving everyone with a decision to make on what tyres they would run.

Doble opted to play it safe on the wet compound and that ultimately proved to be the right call as at mid-distance, the heavens opened once again. By this point Doble had already masterfully fought his way into the top ten and his charge only continued as the laps ticked by.

A thrilling duel with Tom Chilton would follow and although he would finish fifth on the road, contention around Chilton’s move past Doble saw the Hyundai driver penalised, which in-turn promoted the latter to a career-best fourth - while he also scooped Independent plaudits.

Starting the reverse grid finale from fifth, Doble completed what was a weekend to remember at Snetterton with more success in the Independents’ Class as he battled back from a wild moment at turn one to finish tenth.

Leaving the third meeting of the season, Doble now sits just one point behind Taylor-Smith in the Independent Drivers’ Championship. In the Jack Sears Trophy, the Surrey-based racer has opened up a 43-point advantage at the top of the standings.

Mikey Doble, Evans Halshaw Power Maxed Racing:

“It’s been another unpredictable and action-packed weekend in the BTCC so I’m over the moon to be coming away with a best finish of fourth, two Independent wins and extending my lead in the Jack Sears Trophy.

“On reflection, our only bad session all weekend was qualifying and that came down to us just not getting the car in the window. In race one we had some good battles to make up a few spots and then obviously the heavens opened before (and during) race two.

“We made the right call on tyres and the car felt incredible; I just got my head down and worked my way up the order. Race three I was almost in the wall but we managed to recover and again score a brilliant result. I’m really happy with how it has all gone!

“In the past Snetterton has always been a bit of a hit and miss circuit for us as a team so its great to have achieved these results. We’re now going to a circuit in Thruxton which has been a happy hunting ground for us down the years and I can’t wait to see what we can achieve there.”

The 2024 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship continues in less than two weeks’ time at Thruxton on the 8-9 June.

Mikey Doble adds to BTCC silverware collection at Brands Hatch

Mikey Doble continued his fine start to the 2024 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship at Brands Hatch this past weekend (11-12 May) as he tallied wins in both the Independents’ Class and Jack Sears Trophy for a second successive meeting.

In scorching temperatures, the Evans Halshaw Power Maxed Racing driver scored points in all three races around the Indy circuit and in-turn added to his ever-growing silverware collection as he took two more coveted trophies home.

The Vauxhall Astra racer arrived at the world-famous Kent circuit buoyed by the success he had achieved at Donington Park last month and he quickly got to work in fine-tuning his front-wheel-drive machine across Saturday’s two practice sessions.

Having shown glimpses of pace in practice, Doble delivered a credible performance during what was an ultra-competitive qualifying later that day, where he missed out on progressing into Q2 by just 0.075s.

Starting the first of Sunday’s three races in 13th, the 25-year-old - who opted to run the medium tyre - enjoyed a relatively trouble-free drive as he maintained his position come the chequered flag.

Bolting the soft tyre on for race two, Doble demonstrated his overtaking prowess in a frenetic contest which saw him battle his way up to ninth place and crucially beat his team-mate Aron Taylor-Smith to victory in the Independents’ Class.

On a high from claiming his second Independent win of the season, Doble had plenty more to cheer about when the draw for the reverse grid finale was made, which placed him third on the grid.

Holding his own towards the sharp end of the grid, Doble ran as high as fourth at one stage before some typical door-to-door racing unfortunately saw him tumble down the order and ultimately cross the line in 15th.

Despite the lacklustre conclusion to his race day, Doble still had reason to celebrate as his results across the three races meant that he clinched outright honours in the Jack Sears Trophy for a second weekend in-a-row.

That success has meant that the former national champion has extended his lead in the Jack Sears Trophy and remains in second place in the Independent Drivers’ Championship.

Mikey Doble, Evans Halshaw Power Maxed Racing:

“Overall it has been another positive weekend for myself and I’m happy to be heading home with points in all three races, as well as a couple more trophies.

“Going into the weekend I was quietly confident that we would have package that would be strong and that seemed to be the case. It was frustrating to miss out on Q2 in qualifying by such a small margin but we really made up for it on race day.

“Race one was pretty uneventful but the car really came alive on the soft tyre in race two and that allowed me to really push on, make some moves and ultimately claim another Independents’ victory.

“To be starting on the second row in race three was great however that combination of lacking a little bit of tyre compared to everyone else and the nature of touring cars meant we dropped down the pack as the race went on.

“It’s great we’ve been able to consolidate our position in both the Independents’ and Jack Sears Trophy and we’ll now head to Snetterton in a couple weeks’ time optimistic that we can go even better than we have here.”

The Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship continues in under two weeks’ time on the 25/26 May with Rounds 7, 8 & 9 taking place on Snetterton’s 300 circuit.

Mikey Doble scores Independents' and Jack Sears Trophy victory at BTCC curtain-raiser

Mikey Doble produced a strong display to clinch victory in both the Independents’ Class and Jack Sears Trophy at the opening rounds of the 2024 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship this past weekend (27-28 April) at Donington Park.

Embarking on his second full season in the UK’s premier motorsport series with Evans Halshaw Power Maxed Racing, the 25-year-old tallied points in all three races on what turned out to be a blockbuster curtain-raiser.

Arriving at the Leicestershire venue buoyed by a positive pre-season testing programme, the Vauxhall Astra driver showed glimpses of speed across Saturday’s two practice sessions, which in-turn set him up for a strong outing in qualifying.

Running under the new ‘Quick Six’ format, the session saw the front-wheel-drive ace navigate tricky conditions to progress out of Q1 before he narrowly missed out on moving out of Q2, with a track limits violation meaning he lost his best time and ended up tenth overall.

Following lengthy delays due to adverse weather on race day, the opening contest of the season proved to be a frenetic affair with Doble valiantly fighting on the fringes of the top ten throughout the bout; ultimately finishing in 12th.

Races two and three were arguably carbon copy performances as the former multiple national champion diced with his Power Maxed Racing team-mate Aron Taylor-Smith for a majority of both bouts, finishing 13th on both occasions.

Doble’s performance in race three saw him get the better of Taylor-Smith and that in-turn meant that he scooped his first win of the season in the Independents’ Class, while also clinching overall honours in the Jack Sears Trophy.

Leaving Donington Park, Doble sits second in the Independent Drivers’ Championship while also leading the early going in the Jack Sears Trophy.

Rounds 4, 5 & 6 of the 2024 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship takes place around the Brands Hatch Indy circuit on the 11-12 May.

Mikey Doble, Evans Halshaw Power Maxed Racing:

“I’m satisfied with how our weekend ended, coming away with the overall Jack Sears Trophy and an Independents’ win in race three. It’s been a solid start with three top ten points finishes and a continuation of qualifying inside the top ten.

“The team did a fantastic job all weekend in the garage. The car was presented in immaculate condition as always and was extremely competitive at times.

“We’ll go over the data from the weekend before we head to Brands Hatch and see how we can close the gap to those at the front. Overall it’s been a great first weekend of the year!"

Mikey Doble ready to kick-start new BTCC campaign at Donington Park

Mikey Doble is targeting title glory in both the Independent Drivers’ and Jack Sears Trophy categories this year as he prepares to embark on his second season in the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship with Evans Halshaw Power Maxed Racing.

The Surrey-based racer remains with the Vauxhall Astra squad for the 2024 campaign and is looking to build on an impressive rookie year which saw him claim a maiden pole position at Silverstone, an outright Independents’ victory and points finishes in no less than 16 races.

Despite ultimately missing out on the coveted Jack Sears Trophy - which is for drivers either in their first year or who have yet to score an outright podium - the 25-year-old underlined his credentials as being a standout talent; something that he is now looking to build upon.

Boasting a years’ worth of experience in the UK’s premier motorsport series, Doble is targeting an all-out assault on two championship fronts this season in his striking front-wheel-drive machine.

Completing a busy pre-season testing schedule which has seen him tally plenty of laps at Snetterton, Brands Hatch, Croft and most recently Donington Park, the Fewkes Sport Management client admits he feels suitably prepared ahead of the opening round.

Mikey Doble, Evans Halshaw Power Maxed Racing: “After what has felt like a long winter break, I really can’t wait to finally be able to get the season underway at Donington Park this weekend.

“A lot of work has been put in by everyone to ensure we’re back on the grid this year and I head into the campaign looking to fight for both the Jack Sears Trophy and Independent Drivers’ Championship.

“Everyone at Evans Halshaw Power Maxed Racing have done a mega job to develop and evolve the car on from last year; all with the aim of strengthening our chances. Pre-season testing was really productive and I’m feeling confident that we can kick the season off on the right foot.

The 2024 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship begins this weekend at Donington Park, with Sunday’s three races on the National circuit set to be broadcast on ITV4 and ITV Sport’s official TikTok channel.
